Performance Management Skills

Review the steps involved in the performance management system

Explain the purpose of an annual review, ninety-day review, progress review and, transition review and how they can assist the manager in monitoring the employee’s performance on a regular basis

Discuss the steps to use in writing an effective performance review which includes:

  • Assign a rating, writing supportive commentary and communicating and conducting the performance interview
  • Understand when and how to write a corrective notice review

Practice these steps by participating in group exercises and discussion, writing a practice review and role-playing

Identify the characteristics of an effective meeting.

Plan an effective meeting.

Lead a group and manage a meeting.

Understand the follow-up activities to ensure meeting actions are completed.

Use the “Effective Meeting Checklist” to develop and implement an action plan for the next meeting.
